In October 2019, Vintage Hospitality Group partnered with Alabama Power to pilot the Freight Farm LGM model. Building on that success, the program expanded to include the newer Freight Farm Greenery system, further advancing our commitment to sustainable, hyper-local sourcing. Since December 2019, MGM Greens has operated a state-of-the-art urban hydroponic farm built inside repurposed shipping containers.
These self-contained “smart farms” allow us to cultivate fresh produce in controlled environments right next door to our restaurants. By growing vertically and hydroponically, without soil, our crops receive nutrients through water and energy from high-efficiency LED lighting. Advanced climate-control technology enables optimal growing conditions year-round, allowing us to harvest fresh lettuces and herbs multiple times each week and 365 days a year.
Today, Vintage Hospitality Group supplies ultra-fresh greens to our restaurants, Vintage Year, Ravello Ristorante, Frenchie’s, and Vintage Café, and also offers select produce for retail at Renfroe’s Market and Vintage Café.
This innovative approach ensures peak flavor, reduced food miles, and a sustainable growing model that brings farm-fresh quality directly from container to kitchen.
